Hazel Valera is clearly my NUMBER ONE credit empowerment coach for personal credit and business credit. I found some videos online that will give you more information about Hazel Valera. Please note that the laws on Credit are always changing. What you hear Hazel Valera talk about in these videos could be laws that have changed recently. I am sharing these videos so you will understand why I value her as my credit empowerment coach. More power to you, Hazel!

You can now start shopping here at the booking engine: www.BookYourTravelOnline.RadiantView.com

I’ve always wanted to offer the best value for discount airline tickets, the cheapest plane tickets — cheap airfares, cheaper than all the well-advertised internet sites we’ve been going to.

It’s been my foremost desire to motivate people to visit the Asian Pacific islands — whether it’s the Philippines or other parts of Asia. So, go ahead and plan your next vacation, reunion, event, conference, or meeting! You’re going to enjoy checking out (and hopefully, booking!) the cheapest internet airfares (or plane tickets, plane fares) to the Philippines and the rest of Asia!

My consolidator (a.k.a. wholesaler) provides me with an incredible support system. I consider their company as the best in the planet! (I’m biased, of course).

Remember, this booking engine is for travel-savvy people who want to be “their own travel agents”.

Since I believe in “Truth in Advertising,” then please start your comparison-shopping. Here are some websites that you might want to check out:

INSTRUCTIONS

Some of you might not yet be too familiar with how online booking engines work — so please be assured that I will be around to guide you, especially the first time around. If you’re in a hurry — then please follow these instructions.

1. Decide on your desired travel dates.

2. Go to Kayak.com and check the airfares on your desired dates.

3. Click here to my booking engine to find out if there’s a quote available for your desired dates.

3. If there is a quote available in my booking engine, and it’s better than what you find at Kayak.com, then follow the instructions found in the booking engine. If it asks you to contact me, go ahead and email me at RadiantView@gmail.com.

Remember, the advantage my booking engine has over Kayak.com (for most cases) is that my consolidator has a Manila office in case you have problems during your travels.

4. If there is no quote available in my booking engine, never fear — I am here to guide you!

    a. Email me at RadiantView@gmail.com with the following information. Please be as specific as possible:

        1) Each passenger’s name (as found in the passport)

Please indicate if there are any children travelling with you. Please write down their ages.

        2) Your itinerary: For example, San Francisco – Cebu – San Francisco

If you want to stop over in Manila for a few days, please indicate this. Let me know if you need any tour packages or land arrangements.

        3) Your desired dates of travel (as well as the times of travel, if applicable)

    b. You will get an acknowledgment from me — and I get to work by contacting my consolidator. At this point, we will be communicating by e-mail.

    c. When everything is ready, and I get an OK from you regarding the quote (email acknowledgment is very OK!), then we will be asking you for your credit card number to book your tickets.

    d. The first time we handle your booking, there are couple of extra steps for the transaction — and it’s worth it.

Start booking your flight!

Folks,

Here’s an exciting update to the email I sent out yesterday about The Filipinas Magazine Show. The facts I laid out yesterday turned out to be incomplete. Allow me to restate them with more complete information.

THE FILIPINAS MAGAZINE SHOW – will go on the air starting April 25 (Saturday) at 6:30 pm (PST) or 9:30 pm (EST) on GMA Pinoy TV, beamed direct to homes across the US by both DirecTV and Dish Network and on all the Cable Systems that carry GMA Pinoy TV, as follows:

1. Astound (San Francisco, Concord, Oregon)
2. AT & T U-verse
3. NexHorizon Broadband (San Diego, CA
4. Cablevision (io TV)
5. Comcast (California, Boston, Brookline)
6. Cox Communications (San Diego, Las Vegas, Hampton Roads, Orange County/Palos Verdes, North Virginia)
7. Oceanic Time Warner (Hawaii)
8. San Bruno Cable TV (San Bruno, CA)
9. Time Warner (L.A.)
10. Verizon Fios
11. Wave Broadband (Cerritos, Oregon)

FILIPINAS MAGAZINE SHOW is a 30-minute, weekly magazine-type program that features the personalities who are the pride of the FilAm community (just like the printed magazine), probes issues of concern to our community and spotlights Filipino cuisine, restaurants and chefs. The host is my daughter, Christina Dunham, who is also associate publisher and columnist of Filipinas.

GMA Network, the mother network of GMA Pinoy TV, is the leading TV nework in the Philippines, in terms of viewership, advertising load and profitability. It has been in the US for 4 years now and is also aired in much of Europe and Asia.

The director of our show is Maila Gumila, a veteran TV and film star (she started as a child actress) and TV director, as well as the director of the annual Filipinas Magazine Achievement Awards. She owns SilverMesh Productions, which handles the production of the show, as a joint venture with Filipinas Magazine and GMA Network.

The writers are Gemma Nemenzo, Maricar Liberato and myself, all members of the Filipinas Magazine team. Raymond Virata, Filipinas Mag art director, is also art director, while Jinx Macabenta, my youngest son, who has his own graphics company, is creative director. Ringo Macabenta, my eldest son and managing editor of our weekly newspaper, Ang Panahon, is production manager.

As you can see, it’s pretty much a family undertaking. But the team has had years of creative and broadcast production experience.

Here’s the line-up of the first episode:

1. Cover Story – Elaine Quijano, former White House correspondent of CNN and 2008 Filipinas Magazine Achievement Awardee for Communication
2. Issues – The 2nd Death March, the struggle for veterans equity
3. Spotlight – Paolo Montalban, Broadway actor and star of Cinderella
4. Expat’s Kitchen – Mercury Lounge Restaurant

The second episode will feature:

1. Cover Story – Maj. Gen. Antonio Taguba, 2008 Filipinas Magazine Achievement Awardee for Public Affairs
2. Entertainment – Pinoys in Hollywood
3. Spotlight – Irene Natividad, President Global Summit of Women, 2008 Filiipinas Magazine Lifetime Achievement Awardee
4. Expat’s Kitchen – Red Lantern Restaurant

The third episode will feature:

1. Cover Story – Loida Nicolas-Lewis, pride of the FilAm community and one of the very first Filipinas Magazine Achievement Awardees
2. Factoids – Pinoy Roots in America (going back to the Galleon Trade)
3. Spotlight – Kris and David Valderrama, Member and former Member, respectively, Maryland House of Delegates
4. Expat’s Kitchen – Patisserie Philippe

The fourth episode will feature:

1. Cover Story – Rafe Totengco of New York, maker of designer bags for the rich and famous, 2005 Filipinas Magazine Achievement Awardee for Entrepreneurship
2. Issues – Immigration and Human Rights
3. Spotlight – Gloria Caoile, pride of the FilAm community and one of the earliest Filipinas Magazine Achievement Awardees
4. Expat’s Kitchen – Intramuros Restaurant

We have lined up very fascinating and truly outstanding FilAms for the subsequent shows. We hope you will watch every one of them.

Please spread the word even to your non-Filipino friends. Thank you for your support.

Greg B. Macabenta

And I don’t even speak or write Punjabi.

So, one of my friends at the San Jose Punjabi Mela Committee, Jaskaran S. Sahota of Bridgepoint Entertainment LLC, a former professional field hockey player slash independent filmmaker slash bhangra music video director slash software engineer in Silicon Valley, asked me for assistance in finding advertisers for his made-for-DVD movie, shot with high definition cameras. 15-second and 30-second broadcast commercial spots are available for placement inside the DVD. Jas tested the story line with a live Punjabi Comedy show in Milpitas, California this past February — and he got rave reviews and a sold-out house! Thus, 60% of this DVD movie was inspired by this theater project.

Hello, Gurdeep: I was checking my voicemail messages at 415 508-5326 and you had left a second voicemail message. I tried to call you at the number you gave me (I replayed my voicemail at least five times!) and the number you gave was 408 418-3715. I tried to call this number but it turns out to be an invalid number. Could you kindly call me again and leave an alternate phone number? Or e-mail me at lornadietz@gmail.com, asking me to contact you. Thanks for understanding — and I hope you get this message! – Lorna

P.S. For those of you who are reading this… I think you know how hard I am trying to return this person’s phone call. Even a blog entry will do, especially if it is business-related.

March 12, 2007 – I am proud to announce to the world that my managing editor of Filipinas Magazine, Gemma Nemenzo, is leaving for Makati City, Philippines, tonight, on a whirlwind trip. Gemma’s magic date is March 17, 2007 for a book launching — her book.

I have always admired Gemma for her writing skills and insightful perspectives. There were times when her essays caught me unaware — and had me crying for no reason at all or smiling in amusement. Did Gemma’s prose appeal to every immigrant who mirrored her experiences? Feeling the way she does, about being a “heart in two places?”

After we had a meeting at the Filipinas Magazine last week, I hurriedly informed some of my Philippines-based friends to meet Gemma this Saturday. I’m posting this announcement here as well.

Here are the details:

~0~0~

WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT “HEART IN TWO PLACES”

If there is one territory that Gemma Nemenzo navigates so well, it is the heart. She knows its dark crevices as well as its bright spaces, its rough edges and silky contours. This is what makes her write so tenderly about a range of emotions. Her feelings for country, family, her children, friends and lovers always run deep, you can’t help but be moved.

Heart in Two Places tells us that, whether in America or the Philippines, there is one constant: the emotional pull of people. Nemenzo’s book reminds us that personal geography is just as important as the physical.

Marites Danguilan Vitug
Editor in Chief
Newsbreak Magazine

*

Gemma Nemenzo’s essays are eloquent explorations of the Filipino American journey from various viewpoints––that of an expat, a woman and mother, an activist-journalist still deeply concerned about the future of her homeland. This collection is a must-read for anyone who hopes to understand the Filipino diaspora in America.

BEN PIMENTEL
Reporter, San Francisco Chronicle
and author, U.G., An Underground Tale: The Journey of Edgar Jopson and the First Quarter Storm Generation

*

True to her name, Gemma (Nemenzo) proves with Heart in Two Places that she is a brilliant writer who can move you to tears as easily as she can move you to laughter with her thought-provoking and insightful essays. Here, the witty essayist proffers a writer’s harvest that sparkles with disarming humor (delightfully dusted with Pinoy pixie)[avh1] and, to great effect, cuts with hard-edged passion and intelligence.

BERNARDO BERNARDO
Fil-Am Actor/Director

*

What a delightful collection! Indeed, Gemma Nemenzo writes from two places––from then and now, from laughter and tragedy, and always from a generous heart and unfaltering wisdom.

Cristina DC Pastor
Author, Scratch the News: Filipino Americans in Our Midst
and Managing Editor, Philippine News, New Jersey

*

With artful poignancy and extraordinary honesty and humility, Gemma Nemenzo speaks of experiences that are, on one hand, deeply personal to her yet also live, craving to be bared, within the heart of every single Filipino immigrant of her generation. To read her is to understand what Filipino expatriates only wish they could say.

Alcide “Sonny” Alforque
Artistic Director, Sinag-tala Filipino Theater and Performing Arts Association Sacramento, California

*

The courage that saw Gemma Nemenzo end her marriage, pull up stakes and migrate to American with three young children is the same courage that she trains on herself in this book––a pained, sometimes ironic, sometimes amused record of life as she has since lived it.

Here a staunch nationalist turned U.S. citizen, a female born to relationship raising her children alone, a writer turning separation from her roots into literature––proves her examined life to be truly worth living.

Sylvia L. Mayuga
Columnist, Philippine Daily Inquirer

*

Heart In Two Places goes beyond geographic and cultural bilocation. Between the covers of this book are scintillating vignettes of Gemma Nemenzo’s experiential PhilAm sojourn.

Ms. Nemenzo’s essays are masterfully crafted “sentipieces,” much unlike vapid musings that cram less cerebral bookstores. Verbally gifted, she amazes readers with the way her words flow in facile procession: the obvious are precise, while inferences are delicately nuanced. Her versatile pen, as the situation demands, morphs into an incisive scalpel or a blunt bludgeon or, when mortally whimsical, slays nonetheless with the gentle swirl of a scimitar.

Essentially, Heart in Two Places is about the author’s PhilAm life journey, punctuated with defining moments and crucial life choices. In the process, she raises philosophical questions that disturb, yet edify. Somehow, one senses that in her heart of hearts, her life choices are unarguably impelled by a living, breathing, sensitive, considerate soul. Then, perhaps, the book should be retitled Heart in Right Places.

REY DE GUZMAN
VP for Corporate Communications
United Laboratories Inc. Philippines

*

True, there were times when I found myself chuckling, “She is just like me!” But much more often, and many more times when I wished I could be more like her. Gemma is courageous when it would be acceptable (but not necessarily smarter) to be cautious; behaves honorably even when no one is around to notice; and forgives––both others and herself––when it would be much easier to cling to the wreckage. All with such grace, candor and matter-of-factness that one can so easily overlook what a hero we have in our midst. Mabuhay ka, Gemma. May your tribe increase!

MARGARITA GO SINGCO HOLMES, PhD
Clinical psychologist and best-selling author

I am a part-time employee here, focused on assisting John and Vonny Oei, my brokers, with marketing copywriting and strategies for their “one stop shop” —- real estate, mortgage, and insurance. There’s also a title company in the premises.

I’ve enclosed an example of a direct mail piece that I edited for John Oei. Being an independent broker for some very good insurance companies makes it easier for the client. The independent broker works for the client, looking for the best choices in insurance coverage (which includes adequate coverage).

Check out their website when you get a chance.

(Address)
(City/State/Zipcode)

Dear (name):

Your insurance policy is renewing on (date).
Has your agent updated your homeowner policy recently?
If not, are you open to new ideas regarding how your homeowners insurance can be reviewed for adequate coverage?

Some alarming news to consider:

- According to MSN Money, two out of three homes do not have enough coverage. The latest survey showed a typical homeowner was underinsured by 27% …… Many homeowners have not updated their coverage to reflect these costs.
- ABC news (September 7, 2006, Michael Finney) quoted nearly 60% of American homes are underinsured by an average 22%. Most don’t really have adequate insurance in case of a disaster like a hurricane or earthquake.

How can this happen?

- Many insurance companies radically modified their guaranteed replacement policies.
- Construction costs are on the rise.
- New building code increases the cost.
- Homeowners are remodeling, but did not notify the insurance companies.

What can you do?

By filling up this short form, we will send you a free Replacement Cost Analysis. Once filled out, you will get a complete replacement cost report that will show you exactly what it is going to cost you to replace your home in the event of a disaster.

You get a competitive quote using the best quote we can find from our preferred insurance companies (Hartford, Allied, Kemper, First American Specialty, the sister company of First American Title Insurance, and Balboa Insurance Company).

You will receive a list of 30 different discount or credits that many insurance companies offer. Ask your current insurance company if you can get comparative discounts or credits from the list we will send you.

Our system will save you money and give you peace of mind with or without changing your current insurance company. Doesn’t it make sense for you to fill up this one-minute form and have peace of mind knowing you have the best value for your insurance with the right coverage?

Sincerely,

Having joined Filipinas Magazine to help build its business, I’m convinced, more than ever, that it is a terrific magazine. Cover-to-cover, there’s something for everyone. And it makes a perfect gift, too!

Now, you can share Filipinas with family and friends. Here’s the deal.

The first one-year subscription (either yours or your recipient’s) is $18, and then all your one-year gifts are just $12. These rates are for U.S. addresses only; Canada and Philippine rates are $30 and $24, respectively. Gift-givers will be sent an attractive gift card for each recipient.

Maligayang Pasko,
